- THE CLIENT
The Challenge
The Central Washington Catholic Foundation needed a website that could do multiple jobs simultaneously. It had to inspire donors to give, help families find tuition assistance and scholarships, showcase the foundation's impact through donor stories, promote events, and provide clear pathways for different user groups.
The site served scholarship recipients, potential donors, parish leaders, and families struggling with Catholic school costs. Each group needed different information and different calls to action.
- STRATEGY
Our Approach
We built the site around action, not just information. The homepage immediately presents the foundation's core mission: supporting Catholic education and faith. We structured navigation so donors and families could find what they needed without confusion.
We made giving easy and visible. Multiple giving pathways are presented upfront: donor advised funds, endowment funds, legacy gifts, and one-time donations. We didn't bury giving behind layers of navigation. It's prominent because giving is what sustains the foundation's mission.
Scholarship and grant programs get dedicated sections with clear eligibility information and application processes. Families don't have to guess whether they qualify for tuition assistance or religious education grants. The site explains each program simply.
We let impact speak through authentic donor and scholarship recipient stories. Real people sharing how the foundation changed their lives is more powerful than any marketing message. These testimonials aren't generic. They're specific about the difference the foundation made.
- DESIGN
Key Design Decisions
The design feels warm and welcoming, not corporate. We used real photos from foundation events and featured real faces of scholarship recipients and donors. The color palette and typography reflect Catholic tradition while remaining modern and accessible.
We made event registration and information prominent. The annual Celebration of Faith is a major fundraising event, and the site guides supporters there naturally.
We built a newsletter signup into multiple pages because donor communication matters for long-term relationships.
Nonprofit website design for Catholic foundations requires a different approach than secular organizations. Donors to faith-based charities want to feel the mission, not just read about it. Our nonprofit website design strategy integrated visual storytelling throughout. Photos of students receiving scholarships, families celebrating faith, and community gatherings create emotional connection that generic placeholder images cannot match.
The nonprofit website design also prioritizes accessibility for older donors, who represent a significant giving demographic. We ensured large enough fonts, clear navigation, and simple forms. Many donors to Catholic foundations are planning legacy gifts and estate donations. Our nonprofit website design prominently features information about wills, endowment funds, and qualified charitable distributions for donors over 70 and a half.
Event promotion became central to the nonprofit website design structure. The Celebration of Faith isn't just a single event. It's the foundation's primary fundraising mechanism and community engagement tool. We created dedicated landing pages with photos, video highlights, registration links, and sponsorship opportunities. Donors can immediately understand the event's impact and sign up to attend or support.
The newsletter strategy reflects what we learned about nonprofit website design for faith organizations. Donors want ongoing communication about impact. They want to know their gift made a difference. By placing newsletter signup on multiple pages, we ensure supporters can easily stay connected. This builds long-term relationships and encourages recurring giving.
This nonprofit website design approach proves that effective fundraising websites combine emotional connection with practical information, making it easy for supporters to understand the mission and take action.
